Overview

Weizmann Biotech Club is a student-run organization, committed to connecting the intellectual powerhouse of the Weizmann Institute of Science to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. With over 1,400 active life science companies, Israel is at the forefront of healthcare innovation. Powered by the academic excellence, Israeli companies are bringing breakthrough scientific discoveries in neuroscience, immuno-oncology, regenerative medicine closer to the patients. Not just start-ups, Israel is also home to R&D centers of multinational giants such as Merck, GE, Amgen, Boston Scientific, Takeda, Johnson and Johnson and many more. Established in 1934, the Weizmann Institute of Science is one of the world-leading multidisciplinary research centers. Discoveries made at the Institute went on to become blockbuster drugs saving hundreds of lives. Notable among them are Copaxone, Rebif, Cetuximab, and Yescarta (first CAR-T drug). Strategically located near the science park of Ness Ziona, many start-up companies trace their origins to the Institute. The goal of the club is to bring rigorously-trained graduate students and post-docs in close proximity to the biotechnology and healthcare industry. Through our numerous initiatives, we foster the engagement between the present and the future leaders of the life science industry.
