Overview

WAWCAS stands for Women At Work, Children At School. We train women entrepreneurs in some of the poorest parts of Nepal. When these women begin the program, they have next to nothing. When they graduate, they are competent business owners and part of a network of likeminded professionals. Being financially independent, the women can afford to send their children to school, giving them the chance of a better future. And as the successful entrepreneurs and their families thrive and prosper, so does the entire local community. Per April 2019, 4000 women are a part of the WAWCAS Program. And around 3800 small business have been started. The program has very high succesrates, showing that it is possible for women in poverty to change their life fundamentally. The results speaks for itself.... 95 % of the womens businesses still exist after 5 years. The repayment of the seed money each woman receives is 98 %. All used for the next women to support their changes. 98 % of the children are ensured good and stable schooling. There is a significant reduction in domestic violence and husbands alcohol misuse. WAWCAS women become rolemodels in the local society. The 16 months training and supervision, is carried out by WAWCAS certified Local Program Leaders who have been through the 17-month theoretical and practical WAWCAS Certification Program. The training takes place bi-monthly and home- and business visits are made frequently every month to follow up on the womens changes and issues.
