Overview

Long before there was VeryVera, before Vera Stewart booked her first catering job (as Vera & Company) in 1984 and before her cake-baking prowess garnered national attention, there was a little girl learning at the elbow of her grandmother, the original Vera. It was there she learned not only the arts of blending and baking, but also how to add earnest affection as an essential ingredient. Today, VeryVera has expanded far beyond its simple catering company roots. In 1993 she began a gourmet mail order service specializing in homemade baked goods and cakes. Those cakes have found their way into Oprah’s O Magazine, the New York Times and Gourmet and are available at high end retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. Currently, VeryVera entrees are on the shelves at Costco Wholesale in the Southeast. In 2010, Vera threw down with television super chef Bobby Flay and taught him a thing or two about carrot cake. This opened the door for The VeryVera Show. Now in its 8th season in 20 markets, The VeryVera Show teaches viewers how to put a twist on southern classics they know and love. She has also established the VeryVera Cooking camp, a summer children's program focusing on establishing cooking skills and installing etiquette values in the next generation.
