Veruscript
Book and Periodical PublishingOverview
Veruscript was born out of a disillusionment with the academic publishing system – one that profits publishers and disenfranchises academics and librarians. Our founder, himself an academic, wanted to change this by building a company with a mission to make things fairer. We do this through open access journals that, unlike most, reward peer reviewers for their time and effort. Rewards take the form of cash payments or credits toward future publication. Additionally, our publishing services lower the cost and effort needed for universities, societies and academics to launch and run their own journals. Between us, our London-based team has over 50 years of publishing experience. Our user-friendly, cloud-based systems are also built in-house from the ground up, using an agile approach to produce tools for the community. We have no legacy subscriptions revenue to protect and, as a startup, can look at publishing as a blank slate. We do things differently to rise to the challenges faced by the academic community, rather than just pleasing our shareholders.
