Overview
Verimployee is an “Accountability-Mechanism” that records promises employees and employers make to each other during recruitment process and follows up to see if those promises were honoured. This information is available on need to know basis to future employers only with explicit consent of the employee. Verimployee replicates the reputation mechanism that has worked effectively to create social accountability for thousands of years and still does in smaller communities (eg. Villages). Individuals are kept accountable by their fear of others in the community finding out about them not keeping their commitments and getting a reputation for being unreliable therefore not trustworthy. Such a reputation would effectively lower the social status of an individual and also decrease their economic opportunities. The efficacy of reputation in enforcing social accountability has waned in past several decades due to dramatic increase in size of communities. Verimployee has been designed to overcome the factors that diminish the efficacy of reputation as societal mechanism in larger geographic areas and in very large populations. It is an IT-enabled social accountability platform. We are quite sure that Verimployee with restore social accountability and lead to improvement in trust between employers and employees and open up further opportunities for cooperation and mutual benefit.
