United States Australian Football League (USAFL)

Spectator Sports

Overview

Formed in 1997, the United States Australian Rules Football League (USAFL) comprises of over 2,000 men and women in 46 active clubs, and two National teams. What is Australian Rules Football, Aussie Rules, Footy...? First of all, it's NOT rugby. There are 18 players a side, a huge oval field, kicking, hand passes (no throws), tackling (no pads), no off-sides, mostly continuous play, six points for a goal (kicked between the two center uprights), and one point for all other types of scores. The USAFL competition involves regular season matches across the country, and regional tournaments (Centrals, Westerns, and Easterns). The season concludes with our National Championship tournament played over the course of a weekend, with the top winning teams in their division taking home a Cup! We are a continuously growing league dedicated to promoting the sport of Australian Rules Football across the United States, and connecting our players, fans, supporters, and sponsors with the love of the game. All are welcome.
