Overview

UP IE Club, one of the largest student organizations in the College of Engineering today, was established in 1967, even before the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research was officially constituted in 1971. The founding members were passionate students of the then-new industrial engineering degree program who were seeking representation for the IE student body in the Engineering Student Council. Since then, the organization has grown to value service and holistic development, through activities that inspire academic and leadership excellence in its members. UP IE Club has been awarded the as one of the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) by the National Youth Commission twice. The first was in 2003 for the College Jump Starter Program (CJSP), now known as UPCAMP (UP College Admissions Mastery Program), which prepares select high school students for the UP College Admission Test. More recently was in 2017 for IEAid, which allows students to apply IE concepts to solve the problems of NGOs and charities. UP IE Club prides itself in having won 29 out of the 31 Engineering Week Overall Championships (EWOC) so far awarded. The organization has also consistently produced honor graduates and winners in various competitions including the ASEAN-ITB Industrial Engineering Competition, the Engineering Marketing Congress, Stat-is-Eeks, and the Philippine Emerging Start-ups Open.
