Upbeat Clean is commercial cleaning company based in Derby that seeks to combine excellent cleaning with life-changing employment. We clean over 20 venues and offices around Derby. Our current clients range from larger venues like Quad and Deda to smaller venues and offices like Yada, Circulayo and St Peter's Church. We wholly owned by the charity Upbeat Communities so all the profits we make go to help in need in Derby. Upbeat Communities was aware that refugee women, who have shown such resilience and bravery in supporting their families through traumatic events, often have a real challenge finding flexible work that fits around childcare. This often leads to years of unemployment and the serious challenges that come with that. After considering dozens of Social Enterprise opportunities, we started Upbeat Clean to provide flexible, ‘Real Living Wage’ employment that can help refugee women and others support their families and rebuild their lives. While the cleaning sector is often known for low wages and unethical employment, we wanted Upbeat Clean to be different. Upbeat Clean provides excellent service to our commercial clients while also paying a real living wage to our staff, providing mentoring opportunities and supported employment and giving staff the flexibility to have a balanced family life. We treat our staff as we would like to be treated and in doing so, see them shine in their work and lives. However, we don’t just want companies to choose our cleaning services because we are a social enterprise, we want to provide the best customer service in Derby. Every customer has a designated account manager who visits regularly to ensure that they receive the best service and experience the joy of having their premises cleaned exactly how they want it. At the same time knowing that their choice of cleaning service has made a real difference to families across Derby.
