Overview

Under One Tent (UOT) is a unique initiative established by the Irish Muslim youth, with the aim of fostering positive interactions between the wider Irish society. It is an organization undertaking a series of events throughout the year, that aim to showcase the diversity of this society, and its benefits. Through UOT’s platform we strive to create bridges between individuals, bring together communities and foster interfaith dialogue. Only by accepting differences and instilling respect, and understanding, for one another can we achieve that utopia every nation strives towards. As upstanding and motivated members of this nation, the UOT team envisions an Irish society which is a beacon of harmony and unity to the world. Open Iftar is a flagship event of the UOT initiative. Organized annually, it is held during the sacred month of Ramadan, whereby the public-at-large is invited to share a meal together and get the conversation started. Prominent personalities are invited to attend the event and shed light on various related topics. Furthermore, different light-hearted activities are organized to promote an open and relaxed atmosphere, ideal for friendly and engaging interactions between the diverse audience in attendance. Open Iftar is the sole event of its kind in Ireland, organized by Irish Muslim youth in the heart of Dublin. A once-a-year initiative, it has catered to an audience of up to 350 people per day, during its 2017 rendition. This year we aim to further increase the capacity of the event. We have successfully worked with various organizations and businesses in the past, including Sports Against Racism Ireland (SARI), Immigrant Council of Ireland (ICI), Dublin City Interfaith Forum (DCIF), and others. A number of prominent personalities have attended previous renditions of Open Iftar including Sister Stan, the Respected Archbishop Michael Jackson, the Respected Mayor of South Dublin County Council Guss O’Connell, to name a few. Furthermore, various print and digital media outlets including the Irish Times, RTE, Totally Dublin Magazine and FM104 have covered our events.
