Overview
The UN Association of Finland, or shortly UNA Finland, is a Non-Governmental Organization that promotes and supports the actions and principles of the United Nations. UNA Finland was founded in 1954. We work for advocacy and produce educational material on issues related to the United Nations and sustainable development, communicate about current topics related to global issues, and influence Finnish UN policy. The United Nations is the world's largest peace organization founded with an international treaty (The UN Charter) which aims to promote security, human rights, and development in various ways. We support these goals though our work - information sharing, education, and advocacy. We have a consultative status at ECOSOC. We are not part of the official United Nations System, but an independent NGO. Our work is supported by around 70 member and municipal organizations, as well as a network of individuals who are interested in UN issues. The network supports the activities of the UN Association of Finland and is open to everyone who supports the principles of the United Nations. The everyday activities of the Association are guided by a board of directors with representatives from member organisations.
