‘Ujamaa’ is the Swahili word for ‘extended family’ or ‘familyhood’ and asserts that a person becomes a part of this family through the people or community. We want to support small-hold farmers with gaining access to Western markets that are willing to pay a premium price for ethically and sustainably sourced spices that are not only delicious, but also good for health due to their organic nature and inflammatory properties. By doing this, we hope we can support to revive the nearly lost farming traditions on the islands.
