Overview

University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) DHIS2 digital health lab is under the Computer Science and Engineering Department in the College of ICT in Tanzania. It provides research & development collaborative innovation space for more than 30 developers and implementers who work interactivity and collaboratively with the Ministry of Health Tanzania and other stakeholders to support national health information systems (HIS) and the development of other emerging IT digital solutions. The UDSM DHIS2 lab has successfully provided technical support to the Ministry of Health -Tanzania Mainland and its vertical programs over the past 20 years on different systems, including the National DHIS2 system, eIDSR, HRHIS, and National HMIS Portal while collaborating with the University of Oslo HISP Centre and other various implementing partners in further digital research, innovations, and HIS strengthening efforts. Our experts have advanced varying capacities and experience in programming, health informatics, health information systems (HIS), data science, computer science, and software development. Our experts have more than 20 years of local and international experience in HIS implementation with different healthcare organizations and ministries of health in Africa. The UDSM DHIS2 Lab (www.dhis2.udsm.ac.tz) is also part of the global health information systems program (HISP) network led by the University of Oslo (UiO), Norway. The HISP network aims at strengthening HIS in developing countries using a human-centered design and participatory approach.
