Overview

UCEDC is a private, non-profit statewide economic development corporation, dedicated to small business development and job creation. Since 1977, we’ve been helping start-up and established businesses across New Jersey with lending, free and low-cost training services, and help with government procurement opportunities. As a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and SBA lender, we help small business owners and entrepreneurs when conventional lending sources aren’t available. With financing options from $5,000 - $5 million, including SBA microloans, Community Advantage 7a loans, and 504 commercial real estate loans, we assist borrowers with little to no credit history, insufficient collateral, and women and minority entrepreneurs. Through our partnership with the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA), we provide free and low-cost workshops on business and financial literacy topics. Free ongoing mentorship is provided to our loan clients and Entrepreneurship 101 graduates. Small businesses of all types can rely on UCEDC’s Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) to help navigate their way through the government contracting process. Federal, state, and local governments spend billions buying goods and services from small businesses and the PTAC's free counseling, technical assistance, and bid match services will position you to get your share of this lucrative market. In the past 10 years alone, we’ve loaned over $20 million to small businesses throughout NJ; 10,000+ fledgling entrepreneurs and experienced business owners have attended our workshops; and we’ve helped clients in over 130 fields secure $1.5 billion in government contracts. We’re proud to have helped thousands of small businesses and look forward to working with you to create the next success story. Visit our website to learn more about our loan programs, upcoming workshops, and government contracting events. Or call us at 908-527-1166.
