Overview

The UAS Detection and Counter-UAS Task Force was established in the state of North Dakota and includes representatives from the governor's office, the North Dakota University System, North Dakota National Guard and the UAS industry. Co-chairs of the group are Nicholas Flom, executive director of the Northern Plains UAS Test Site, and Thomas Swoyer Jr., president of Grand Sky Development Co., which operates the first commercial UAS business park in the U.S. The UAS Detection and Counter-UAS Task Force will explore government, business and research opportunities in the rapidly evolving field, while also working to accommodate UAS operators who want to test UAS detection and countermeasures in North Dakota. The task force will also work with industry members to identify emerging and potential threats posted by UAS technologies in military and civilian settings and enable participants to develop countermeasures to those threats. The task force regularly seeks input from public and private sectors, and encourages private industry participation and partnerships.
