Software Development

Overview

Software engineering is all about solving real-world problems by creating usable, reliable and efficient software. Therefore, software engineering students study engineering principles, computer science algorithm development and programming, and mathematical foundations. The software engineering discipline equips students with the required skills to compete in the ever-challenging job market. Our students' theoretical and practical skills, gained through the software engineering program, position them high on any job candidate list because they have an in-depth mixture of foundational theory in engineering science, engineering design, math, and program developing skills. A Software Engineer is crucial to any business that either creates its computer programs or tailors third-party software. Software engineers are responsible for architecting, designing, developing, testing, evaluating, integrating, maintaining, and modifying programs. The field includes specialists in the many different levels of development. It is also fast-moving. Software engineering graduates must also learn on the job, or they will find their knowledge becomes out-of-date very quickly. New job openings in Software Engineering will correspond to more than one-half of all of the job openings in the entire job market, which is above the typical of all occupations (the typical percentage for a specific job opening "except software engineering" is about 27% of all openings). Most software engineering graduates work in computer systems design and related services, such as telecommunications and information services. However, software is a part of almost every industry you can think of, and software engineering graduates can solve problems through software development for virtually any industry. This includes biomedical/health care, mining, transportation, education, marketing and sales, research, and many other areas.
