Trevassack Holidays (not for profit organisation)

Hospitality

Overview

The first of its kind in Cornwall and a leader in the UK for inclusive, accessible holidays, Trevassack Holidays is scheduled for opening in October 2021. Trevassack Lake, a former serpentine quarry near Cury on The Lizard peninsula is being re-developed to create a community events space, Learning Centre, Café, watersports provision and 6 state-of-the-art holiday properties that cater for a range of abilities and needs. Purpose built for locals and visitors to Cornwall alike, this accommodation has many features that make it usable for parents and children with a range of physical disabilities and special educational needs. Open plan properties situated on the 26-acre grounds all feature outdoor seating areas, hot tubs and ample self-catering kitchen areas. Some of the larger properties have integrated electric ceiling hoists to enable those who need it to easily gain access to en-suite bathrooms, with large doorways and electric profile beds. A stones-throw from the accommodation are watersports facilities for all, run by Children’s Sailing Trust, a charity that works to provide access to sailing and more for those who might never normally get the opportunity. Year-round wild swimming, sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding and more are available for those with limited mobility or are fully able, with on-site staff also skilled in helping beginners and those with special educational needs. Pullies, sloped beaches, pontoons and more means that people with a range of accessibility needs will be able to enjoy the water for themselves. This whole project has been made possible through grants from the Coastal Communities Fund and European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, along with generous charitable grant givers including the The Bradbury Foundation Hong Kong and The Clare Milne Trust, helping to transform Trevassack Holidays into a year-round accessible accommodation and watersports facility for all.
