Overview

Transformational Justice is a modern and progressive blend of procedural justice and restorative justice. This model of justice balances the rules of the organisation, the rights of the employee, and the need generate fair, just and inclusive outcomes when things go wrong. Transformational justice, at its core, is about reducing harm and promoting psychological safety. It is about generating insight and learning whilst delivering accountability and building trust. It replaces the retributive models of justice which are deeply engrained through organisational processes such as performance management discipline and grievance procedures. These procedures and the retributive justice paradigm are being shown to harmful, damaging, and divisive and in more and more cases, they are being shown to be discriminatory. Whilst trust is a core feature of any justice model, trust in the retributive justice model has broken down irrevocably. A new model of justice is being sought by more and more organisations.
