Gauhati University, the oldest and largest university of northeast India, located in Guwahati (Assam), was established on 26th January 1948, immediately after its Independence with the great necessity of it in the North Eastern region of the country. The current NIRF ranking of Gauhati University is 36th rank as per NIRF'22. Gauhati University is awarded 4th rank among the State Universities in the country in the recent ranking for university-level institutions conducted by MHRD-Govt. of India in the year 2016. The four departments of Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology - Department of Applied Science, Department of Bio-Engineering & Technology, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, and Department of Information Technology, conduct different in-campus programs in the field of Technology and Applied Sciences, including B.TECH, M.TECH., M.S. under the umbrella of Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology. Admission into these courses takes place through Assam CEE (for B.Tech. )and GATE (for M.Tech. and M.S.) Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology (GUIST) was set up at the University campus in 2009 to enhance quality and innovation in technology and applied science education. We follow a holistic approach to the curriculum by integrating skills, soft skills, management, economics, computing, humanities, and foreign language courses across the disciplines and programs to create human resources fit to take on the mantle.
