Overview

Founded in December 2013, ThinkArts facilitates high quality, transformative arts events for children and young adults. We believe that regular creative experiences are essential for children to develop their imagination and emotional intelligence. We have reached thousands of children and young people across India through our work in schools, museums, heritage spaces and theatres across India. Our reading room and creative space for children, The ThinkArts Corner, currently housed on the 6th floor of the Birla Academy of Art & Culture in Kolkata, hosts workshops and sessions for children and their families, besides offering a rare collection of books for children to read. Since 2017, we have been curators of the annual Junior Kolkata Literary Meet. In 2019, we organised the first ThinkArts International Festival for Young Audiences with nearly 100 events held in Kolkata and 3 other cities. And in 2020, as a response to the pandemic , we commissioned 8 digital performance works made for young audiences through the ThinkArts Grant, which have travelled to national and international festivals. Over the years, we have also presented Indian premieres of shows from Germany, Scotland, Wales, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Australia, Italy and Norway, and continue to conceive projects that promote local artists and initiatives in a collaborative spirit. Additionally, ThinkArts focuses on creating resources and support systems for other stakeholders in arts engagements for children such as educators, parents and artists. We believe that this has led to a gradual but definite shift in many arts organisations now curating for young audiences and artists expanding their creative practice to meet the same end. ThinkArts is a member of ASSITEJ India. ThinkArts is registered as a Not-for-Profit company under Sec.8 of the Indian Companies Act, 2013. Reach out to us at info@thinkarts.co.in
