Overview

HOW WE WORK “Am I right in saying that what you are doing is unique?” Will Hurst, Building Design. Yes, what we are doing is unique. By resisting the temptation to take on architectural commissions we are free to operate at the strategic end of placemaking. Typically, we will look at a number of evaluated options for the site and help you choose the one that generates the most value. This is not a simplistic view of value, but a complex one that includes value to the wider stakeholder community, sustainable value, long term viability, planning risk, opportunities for site enhancement/ site accumulation, flexibility to evolve both during the design and implementation process and beyond, for decades to come. From this we will create a conceptual vision. This is not a dry, policy-led framework, but a creative, imaginative response to the opportunities and constraints of a particular site. This is the point at which a lot of masterplanners would leave the process or pitch for a number of architectural commissions. This is where we are different. At this point we switch over to the client side to act as advisors, helping to select and manage the inputs of the many consultants needed to create a great place including Architects, Landscape Architects, Artists, specialists such as Microclimate Consultants, Ecologists, Economists and so on. We make a long term commitment to places and to clients. Our approach is innovative, yes, but it works. Our clients have found it to be a breath of fresh air. The point is we can draw on a wealth of design talent bringing the best-in-class for each part of the site, whether it be a stadium, a tower, a park, a residential quarter, a hotel, or a world-class leisure offer.
