Overview
Almost everyday someone in Australia suffers a spinal cord injury that instantly changes their life. And the lives of those who love them. Imagine how it would feel if it was you. Or someone you love. For people and families affected by spinal cord injury (SCI), life can be a non-stop challenge. The Sargood Foundation fundraises to improve the lives of people with spinal cord injury through our support of Sargood on Collaroy. Our beautiful resort provides people with spinal cord injury and their families with much needed respite, refreshment and relaxation. It is also a place of learning, where guests can gain the confidence and skills that empower them to live full and rewarding lives. Formed in 2000, the Sargood Foundation is a DGR registered charity which exists to support and resource the work of Sargood on Collaroy to provide people affected by a SCI with the opportunities to live life to the fullest, and to plan for the long term financial viability of the Centre. We fundraise for Sargood on Collaroy, to provide equipment, facilities, and subsidised stays for people who otherwise could not afford this valuable experience. We are a community based organisation who initiated the concept of Sargood on Collaroy and we represent the community ownership of 25% of Sargood on Collaroy. (The other owners are icare and a private benefactor). Without the support of our local community, Sargood on Collaroy would never have happened. Support from the local Clubs, businesses, local council and residents was paramount in securing the land and raising significant funds to bring about the creation of this world first resort, specially designed for people with a spinal cord injury
