Here at The Pulmonology Specialists (TPS), our Respiratory Physiologist, Geri, provides patients with Pulmonary Function Tests including Spirometry, Reversibility, gas transfer/Diffusion, Lung Volumes, Maximum Voluntary Ventilation (MVV), MIPs, MEPs, 6 minute walk tests and Exercise Challenge Tests. These are vital diagnostic tools in conjunction with Bronchoscopy, CT Thorax scans, Blood Tests, Chest Xrays, etc which will help our Pulmonologist Dr Kimberly Foley with her diagnosis. You may need a PFT if you are short of breath, coughing, had Covid 19 or Pneumonia recently, a current smoker, ex smoker, or someone who was exposed to passive smoke or other damaging chemicals such as asbestos, fiberglass, silicon, coal dust, specific chemicals in an occupational setting. Repeat monitoring is required in many lung conditions such as Asthma and COPD, ILD, Sarcoidosis, etc. You may be then treated with inhalers or oral medication.
