Overview

Lee Jay Berman began as a full-time mediator over 24 years ago, and has successfully mediated over 2,300 matters. He enjoys a national practice based out of Los Angeles. Lee Jay is designated as a Master Mediator on the American Arbitration Association's (AAA) Employment Mediation panel (1 of 50 nationally), as well as on AAA's national panels for commercial and construction disputes. He is a Distinguished Fellow with the International Academy of Mediators, a Charter Diplomat with the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals (NADN), internationally certified by the International Mediation Institute, and a Dispute Resolution Expert with the United Nations Development Programme. He was recently awarded the NADN inaugural "Distinguished Neutral of the Year" award, and the Southern California Mediation Association gave him their prestigious Lowry Award for leading in the field of mediation. He was Mediator of the Year for the US Bankruptcy Court, California’s Daily Journal twice named him "Top Neutral", and his peers have voted him into the Who’s Who of International Commercial Mediation from 2012-2018. Also a respected trainer in the field, he founded the American Institute of Mediation, leaving his position as Director of Pepperdine Law School's "Mediating the Litigated Case" program after seven years. He has lectured at universities across the U.S. and in Australia, and has trained judges, attorneys, and business leaders in England, Spain, The Netherlands, Croatia, The Kingdom of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, India, and Australia. He has published numerous articles on mediation, negotiation, and ADR, in addition to authoring the popular blog Eye On Conflict and being a radio talk show host, and the American Bar Association is publishing two of his books in 2018. He lives by the ocean in Marina del Rey, California, and enjoys the travel that his work provides.
