The ASMF honour unsung heroes and those working across the sector to raise professional standards, build the reputation of the security industry and its workforce, and minimise the security risks faced by Australians. We work with industry leaders and peak bodies, and support charitable causes aligned to the security industry and its workforce. In 2010 the ASMF introduced recognition for valour and life saving acts in the security industry, to bring the sector into alignment with recognition available in emergency services, military and public sector organisations. Many worthy recipients from across Australia have since been recognised - and have become role models for peers and the industry more broadly. The three ASMF award categories are the: •Australian Security Medal of Valour (ASMV), recognising acts of bravery and initiative; •Australian Security Medal (ASM), recognising contribution to security professionalism, providing examples of outstanding citizenship, positive leadership, insights or influence at a strategic management level. * The Save a Life Award - recognising Security operatives for their decisive action and commitment to first-aid or other behaviour to treat medical conditions or injury - which would otherwise have placed a person in peril. The ASMF is a not-for-profit entity overseen by a voluntary Board of Directors, made up of respected Australian security industry professionals. Across the year, ASMF undertake a number of fundraising initiatives which support Foundation activities. These can include professional development fellowships, and donations to charities aligned with the security sector and the welfare of its workforce. Our highly respected ASMF Patron is The Hon.
