Thai Community Development Center

Civic and Social Organizations

Overview

Founded in 1994, the Thai Community Development Center (Thai CDC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life and standard of living for the economically disadvantaged. Through our comprehensive approach to community development, Thai CDC addresses a wide range of critical issues, including food insecurity, access to healthcare, affordable housing, workers’ and immigrant rights, and human trafficking. Thai CDC provides essential services such as social, legal and health services and public benefit enrollments. In the area of community development, we engage in affordable housing and small business development and neighborhood revitalization. We run the East Hollywood Certified Farmer's Market twice a week along with our free vaccination clinic, ensuring access to fresh produce and free healthcare. We provide decent, safe and service-enriched affordable housing to low-income individuals, families, and seniors. We fight for justice and accountability where there is abuse and exploitation such as in our advocacy for human' rights and fight against human trafficking. We opened the first Thai Worker Center in the nation on August 2nd, 2023, to continue addressing the plight of exploited workers and combat labor trafficking in a strategic and concerted way. The impact of Thai CDC is profound and far-reaching. We have empowered economically disadvantaged individuals and families. We founded Thai Town in East Hollywood, Los Angeles in 1999 and engage in economic development to revitalize economically depressed neighborhoods and increase economic self-sufficiency and economic mobility for the poor, promote healthcare access and equity, and work towards a more just and equitable society.
