Overview

The Consulate of Switzerland, Swissnex in Japan connects the best of many worlds by bridging knowledge, talents, and expertise in science, higher education, research, innovation and the arts between Switzerland, Japan and beyond. Initiated by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) and managed in cooperation with the Swiss Department of Foreign Affairs, we represent the modern 21st century’s science diplomacy. The Consulate of Switzerland in Osaka has been announced by Swiss President Guy Parmelin on July 24, 2021 and accredited by the Japanese Government on August 1, 2021. Swiss President Ignazio Cassis held the groundbreaking ceremony in the new Consulate offices on April 20, 2022, making Japan the 6th Swissnex location. The Consulate of Switzerland, Swissnex in Japan, is part of the Swissnex network with offices in the US (Boston, New York and San Francisco), in China (Shanghai), in India (Bangalore), and Brazil (Rio de Janeiro), along with individual science counselors around the world. For academic guests, university collaborations, startups, entrepreneurs and interested visitors, we offer a space, a service and a platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas in science, education, art, and innovation.
