Overview

Sunnyhill Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides services, programs, and opportunities for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Sunnyhill serves over 1,000 individuals annually, ages 4-85, in six St. Louis metropolitan counties: • St. Louis • St. Louis City • Jefferson • St. Charles • St. Francois • Franklin Sunnyhill provides residential support services for over 200 people with developmental disabilities. Care is provided through Missouri’s Medicaid Waiver program for people who need 24 hour support and through the Independent Supported Living Arrangements (ISLA) program for those individuals who can live independently with occasional support. Sunnyhill owns a camp in Dittmer, Missouri, called Sunnyhill Adventures. This camp provides recreational opportunities, allowing children with or without disabilities and adults with disabilities to experience the great outdoors through camping, fishing, swimming, canoeing, campfires, and climbing & repelling. Over 500 children and adults of all abilities attend Sunnyhill Adventures every Summer, and hundreds more children visit the camp for field trips and community youth events in the Fall and Spring. In March of 2009, Sunnyhill launched Sunnyhill University. Sunnyhill University is a “school” that gives individuals the opportunity to venture out of their homes, learn about their community and the world around them, improve in valuable life skills, socialize, and enjoy life. Sunnyhill University creates a learning environment for adults with disabilities that fosters interests, creativity, learning, independence, autonomy, confidence, pride, and dignity.
