Overview

Safia Qureshi (RIBA BScArch MArch) and Maxwell Mutanda (BScArch DipArch) are Studio [D] Tale, a designers duo based out of London, Cape Town and Harare. The Studio works cross borders between Architecture, Interiors, Urban Exploration, Product Innovation, Critical Design & Communications. By experimenting with new materials and innovation the Studio brings out the best in Design and Architecture. Each design process starts with a bespoke story, which is developed through research and insights. Partners and collaborators include the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, Royal Society of Arts, The Great Recovery, KPMG and HSBC to name a few. Exhibitions and talks include Museum of Modern Art Copenhagen as part of 'Afrika- Architecture & Identity,' Chicago Architectural Biennial, London Design Festival, Venice Biennale and Design Indaba to name a few. Publications and press include The New York Times, Fast Company, Design Week, The Architects' Journal, Core77, Dwell and Design Indaba and more besides. The Studio has also headed workshops and lectures at various Education Institutions such as The Bartlett School of Architecture UCL, Central Saint Martins UAL, London Metropolitan University and the School of Architecture, Planning and Geomatics at the University of Cape Town (UCT). The Studio was invited by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) to join its network of professional mentors for students studying Architecture.
