Strathcona Park Lodge & Outdoor Education Centre

Travel Arrangements

Overview

The Boulding family chose well when they placed Strathcona Park Lodge on a small point on Upper Campbell Lake, Vancouver Island. From almost every room on the property you can get an amazing view of glacier carved valleys, big pristine lakes and rocky/snowcapped peaks. There are several hikes, viewpoints, protected bays and beaches, climbing bluffs, old growth trees, high ropes courses and zip lines – and that’s just on the property. Strathcona Provincial Park, B.C.’s oldest protected area, is just down the road. Within 30 minutes you’ll have access to whitewater paddling, mountain biking, more rock climbing, trail heads to interpretive walks, hikes and mountaineering routes. A little further is world class sea kayaking and whale watching on both sides of Vancouver Island. No one knows this outdoor playground as well as Strathcona. For more than 50 years, longer than anyone else, we’ve been instructing, guiding and exploring the area, so no matter what you choose to do, you’re in good hands. You could spend a week at Strathcona Park Lodge learning new and exciting activities every day without ever getting in a car. A guide could lead you up the Golden Hinde (Vancouver Island’s highest peak) or could take you to the water of Nootka Sound to see whales, sea otters and a historic fur trading port. Alternatively, if you fancy something more relaxing, you can do some canoeing and swimming at the lodge during the day and count stars or roast marshmallows at night.
