Spectrum’s mission is to provide the world with much needed baseload renewable power, while being one of cleanest wood pellet producers in the world. Pellets are a biomass fuel originating from waste fibre created by lumber and forestry operations. Fibre supply is certified by three independent organizations: - Sustainable Forestry Initiative: U.S. & Canadian non-profit, providing solutions to global sustainability challenges - Forest Stewardship Council: Global organization working to protect animal habitats, indigenous rights etc. - Sustainable Biomass Program: Certification system to offer assurance that woody biomass is sourced from sustainable sources Our location in Adel and existing infrastructure at site helps greatly in achieving our mission of reducing hydrocarbon consumption. South Georgia offers some of the lowest input costs on a global basis with abundant fibre supply that currently is without a home. Our facility is strategically located in close proximity to forest production industries, allowing Spectrum to receive their residual fibre at anytime, 24/7.
