Sommariva Tradizione Agricola

Overview

The farm has ancient origins that go back to the 1915; the whole complex extends over a surface of about 115.000 square metres of which 6 hectares are vineyards (from which are extracted the Pigato, the Vermentino and the Rossese sold by the Sommariva), about 45.000 square metres are olive groves and 5.000 square metres have glass houses with the main cultivation as basil, wall rocket, tomatoes and artichokes used for the production of sauces and products in oil. All these products share a common factor, the attentive employment of the procedure of ‘organic’ cultivation. Precisely, the Sommariva’s agricultural land has been cultivated for over 40 years following the rules of the “organic” technique, using simple manure and the olive residue (the so called sansa). The farm has always been a very closed collaborator of the association Suolo e Salute of Turin, the very first institution for the study and control in the field of the organic, founded in Italy in 1972. The company is composed also by an ancient oil mill and a museum, where people can admire all the history of the agriculture tradition of this ligurian area, where its possibile to buy all porducts and where artists can show theier works to all. The family is really active in helping territorial marketing and promotion.
