In 2018, Somerset Indus setup its second Fund. The team was strengthened by bringing on board two new partners. Kannan Ramesh with 25 years’ experience in healthcare delivery and fundraising and Sharad Ladha with 20 years’ experience in private equity, consulting and insurance related experience. The Fund expects to make controlling or influential minority investments in Indian healthcare companies, in connection with various transaction structures including leveraged buyouts, build-ups and growth financings. Somerset's investment professionals have committed a significant amount of personal capital to the Fund. Somerset Indus aims to invest in healthcare delivery product and service platforms run by experienced healthcare entrepreneurs which are focused on providing quality and affordable healthcare across India, especially in the lower tier markets. Somerset Indus through its investment thesis of profitable and sustainable impact based investing has been supporting capacity build up and aims to deliver accessibility and affordability to healthcare in India with a key focus on creating a positive impact on the environment, society, and governance.
