Overview

The Social Housing Regulatory Authority (SHRA) is a state owned entity responsible for investing in, regulating and capacitating the South African social housing sector. Social Housing is an affordable rental housing option which requires institutionalised management which is provided by accredited Social Housing Institutions (SHI) or in accredited social housing projects in designated restructuring zones. It provides good quality rental accommodation for households earning between R1 500 - R15 000 per month. SHRA's vision is to be a thought -leader, stimulator and regulator of world-class self-sufficient social housing solutions. SHRA's mission is to facilitate delivery of quality, sustainable social housing at scale to advance the needs of low- and middle- income groups in support of spatial, economic and social restructuring.
