Overview

Skyway Cement Company is a subsidiary of Eagle Materials Inc. (NYSE: EXP), one of the largest American-owned suppliers of portland cement in the United States. Its slag cement manufacturing plant in Chicago was initially constructed in 1991, with numerous improvements since then. Eagle Materials acquired the facility in 2016, and it has since operated as its subsidiary, Skyway Cement Company. Skyway slag cement is used in a wide variety of infrastructure, industrial, commercial and architectural applications, including cast-in place, precast and pre-stressed concrete, bridges, roads, pipe, block, mass concrete, masonry mortars, grouts, waste solidification and soil stabilization. Skyway slag cement is sold through Eagle subsidiary cement companies: Illinois Cement Company, Fairborn Cement Company, Central Plains Cement Company, Mountain Cement Company and Texas Lehigh Cement Company (a joint venture with Lehigh Hanson). Additionally, Skyway Cement Company sells slag cement directly in markets outside of these subsidiaries’ usual territories. EaglePave blended cement (ASTM C595, Type IS), produced by Central Plains Cement Company, is a blend of portland and Skyway slag cement. Our commitment to a clean environment and safety is a job that we take very seriously. Our Chicago production plant and our U.S. distribution terminals operate under strict guidelines set by OSHA, the U.S. EPA, and the states in which we operate. Our environmental and safety programs strive to go beyond just what is required. Our goal is to work hard every day to meet and exceed expectations for a clean, safe, and successful plant that our communities are proud of.
