Siyavula is Nguni for “we open” or “we are opening”, and Siyavula Education's mission is to make high quality maths and science education as accessible as possible to every learner and teacher on the African continent. As passionate scientists, we are focused on enabling and creating innovative, technology-powered learning experiences. With a team that comes from a diverse range of scientific, educational and even artistic backgrounds, we are always looking to work with other people and organisations who share our passion for education, who get excited by the potential impact of novel ideas and clever technology, and who believe in accessibility. Originally spun out from the Shuttleworth Foundation, Siyavula Education has also gained the backing and support of PSG Group Ltd, and the Silicon Valley- based Omidyar Network (now Imaginable Futures).
