Overview

Sister Schools' mission is to teach compassion, service and social responsibility by partnering students in donor schools with children in need. Since 1988, Sister Schools has been fostering life-changing educational connections between students in Washington State and their peers in Uganda. The schools supply drives we coordinate teach children that small acts of giving make a huge difference. By taking part in a hands-on service project, our children learn the true meaning of compassion and social responsibility. It's an experience that gives them a deeper understanding of our world and their power to change it for the better. Our children collect pencils and pens, erasers and chalk, paper and crayons, books and clothes. We ship them to Uganda and deliver them to schools and orphanages in Mukono, Kampala, Jinja and other communities. Over the past two decades, we have given over 100,000 Ugandan children at over 125 schools more than 200 tons of school supplies. We help communities in Uganda build Literacy Centers where children, their parents and people of all ages can gather to read books and connect with one another. Sister Schools' Scholarship program has given tuition assistance that's helped dozens of Ugandan students get a high school education. What starts with a supply drive becomes a lesson about opening eyes and changing lives.
