The European Society for Paediatric Oncology (SIOP Europe or SIOPE), is the only pan-European organisation representing all professionals working in the field of childhood cancers. With more than 2500 members across 35 European countries, SIOPE is leading the way to ensure the best possible care and outcomes for all children and adolescents with cancer in Europe. SIOPE’s mission is to increase both the cure rate and the quality of cure for children with cancers. As such, SIOPE’s aim is to support education for professionals, facilitate new drugs development and unify standards of care in paediatric oncology across Europe. SIOPE Mission & Activities in a nutshell: • Facilitating and supporting education and training for healthcare professionals in Europe • Integrating patients and parents, bridging the gap between family groups, professionals and policymakers across Europe • Optimising the availability of information on childhood cancers as well as promoting international collaborative clinical trials • Advocating better policies for children with cancer to European Union policymakers • Elevating standards and developing pan-European guidelines for training and care in paediatric oncology Strategic Plan: Backed by the extensive endorsement of the European paediatric haematology-oncology community, the SIOPE Strategic Plan ‘A European Cancer Plan for Children and Adolescents’ was developed to increase the cure rate and the quality of long-term survival of children and young people with cancer by 2025.
