Overview

Sign Language Institute Canada (SLIC) was established in 1981 by the late Carole Sue Bailey to develop the national certification process for Sign Language Instructors/Teachers. We are a growing organization. SLIC is a national network of professionals striving to excel in higher standards for teaching Sign Language. SLIC certifies teachers and instructors of Sign Languages through the American Sign Language Proficiency Interview (ASLPI) American Sign Language Instructors of Canada Evaluation (SLICE). It provides instructors access to educational resource materials and networking connections with professionals, mentors, American Sign Language (ASL)/ la langue des signes québécoise (LSQ), and signed languages of the Canadian Deaf Communities across Canada.
