Overview

We are a Colorado-based nonprofit that supports Sherpa communities in the Everest region of Nepal. The Sherpas are very hard working, yet many families live with little income, sporadically earning a wage in the short tourist seasons of Spring and Fall. Most of the local families also practice subsistence farming; sending their children to school can be too expensive. Our organization is passionate about educating girls in this region, as they are usually the last to be sent to school. Yet we know that when a girl receives an education, she is better prepared to get a job, to vote, and to be more involved in her community. We also know that for each daughter that goes to school, we also help an entire village, as girls typically pass their learning along to their parents, siblings, and eventually, their own children.benefit of having an educated population.
