At the same time, thanks to its holiday homes and holiday villages, Reka scores some 900,000 overnight stays in Switzerland and neighbouring countries. Reka – the cooperative society The Reka can look back over 80 years‘ experience as a financial institution and as a holiday accommodation agency. It was founded in 1939 as a non-profit organisation, underpinned by major Swiss companies, employee associations and tourism organisations. Today the list of the approximately 500 members of the cooperative reads like a ‘Best of’ of the Swiss business world : Coop, Novartis, Roche, Swiss Post, SBB, UBS, Credit Suisse, Raiffeisen Group, UNIA, the Swiss Association of Commercial Employees, hotelleriesuisse and many other important companies and organisations contribute to the Reka’s success. As a non-profit company Reka uses its profits for social tourist purposes. It provides discounted Reka-Checks, reduced-price holidays for families in its own holiday resorts and offers special holiday offers to families with particularly low incomes.
