SCHICK Magazine

Overview

SCHICK Magazine is a fashion, beauty and lifestyle magazine for the African woman. The publication is for the smart, stylish and successful African woman of today, who wants to look and feel good regardless of life’s inevitable demands. October 2016 saw SCHICK Magazine partner with Lagos Fashion and Design Week to produce their first ever, one-of-a-kind Fashion Week ‘Bible’ featuring all of this year’s fashion, from on-trend pieces to exclusive interviews from designers about their S/S17 collection. The SCHICK x LFDW Special Edition was distributed throughout the 4-day event with complimentary beauty products provided by Zaron Cosmetics. In November 2016, at Guaranty Trust Bank’s Fashion Weekend, British GQ’s Editor-in-Chief, Dylan Jones was asked ‘Is print media dead?’ Speaking at his masterclass ‘The global trends shaping fashion and style’ Dylan opposed this view and mentioned SCHICK Magazine (amongst a select few publications) giving credibility to SCHICK’s introduction to the Nigerian market. March 2017 saw the launch of SCHICK Magazine’s debut cover issue with Award-winning actress Rita Dominic, followed by an intimate event in partnership with upscale champagne brand Veuve Clicquot for 100 guests at a private location in Lagos, Nigeria. The event welcomed an array of celebrities, industry experts and more. Veuve Clicquot recently dubbed SCHICK as the “new hit magazine” to read with industry insiders, veterans and designers praising its quality. “No doubt the best fashion magazine to come out of Nigeria” by Folake Coker of Tiffany Amber, Accessories Designer Zainab Ashadu of Zashadu says, “It’s great quality in printing and content!” With BBC Africa’s Didi Akinyelure echoing the same notion with, “There’s nothing like it of the same quality in Nigeria.” SCHICK Magazine is available in select stores and newsstands across the country and can also be purchased on our website. SCHICK Magazine is the brainchild of Simi Esiri, an Intellectual Property Lawyer turned Publisher and Editor-in-Chief. Simi started her career in Fashion over 10 years ago, whilst in University through her fashion and style blog – RubysView.com. Ruby’s View was famously liked on Twitter by La La Anthony and Kim Kardashian West’s long-time stylist Monica Rose. Simi went on to style celebrities such as Rihanna and Alexandra Burke to name a few. She has taken a number of courses in Fashion PR and Fashion Buying. With her previous role as Deputy Editor of Complete Fashion Magazine, Simi broadened and harnessed her skills in Fashion Journalism. Having garnered a wide breadth of experience within the fashion industry, combined with an appreciation for luxury and affordability, SCHICK Magazine was born.
