Overview
Safe Harbour provides a continuum of housing services, from temporary shelter to permanent residence, for those who’ve lost their homes due to foreclosure, joblessness, the death of a loved one, mental health, and addiction issues, or a myriad of other circumstances. Temporary shelter includes emergency placement for families and single females who are in desperate need of a secure place to live, in an environment where they can begin rebuilding their lives. Residents are provided with living and recreational space, including a library and computer room for job searches and other internet communications. Life skills classes for women and men are provided to improve their success after their stay at Safe Harbour, with topics ranging from budgeting to conflict resolution. Additionally, a parenting support group offers education and assistance with basic parenting skills. We are governed by an independent board and funded by donations from individuals, organizations, and churches. Resources are also gained through fees paid by some residents, commercial rents, investments, foundations, federal and state grants, and the United Way.
