Ecohumanism recognizes as fundamental and inseparable objectives the improvement of the human condition, the stabilization of the climate, and the protection of the vitality and diversity of the natural world. It is based on the conviction that their simultaneous achievement, which constitutes the greatest challenge of humanity, requires the mobilization of human genius with ambition, ethics and wisdom. We want to share here our conviction that ecohumanism is a desirable path that can allow humanity to achieve a harmonious and lasting balance with the planet: the preservation of ecosystems and the stabilization of the climate are an indispensable condition for our survival. We wish to formulate proposals aimed at reconnecting with a rigorous idea of the general interest, in particular by relying on the notion of common goods, as well as with the promise of emancipation of the Enlightenment through education and justice. In this reflection, we wish to promote more collective modes of governance, concerned with involving citizens and guaranteeing their trust over time, at the same time as we need a fresh look at the natural, political and social phenomena that surround. We set ourselves the standard that great ideas must serve as guides to great achievements, rooted in reality. The goal of our reflection is thus to set a course as much as to describe the means to reach it.
