Overview

The Reinvent South Stockton Coalition (RSSC) is a public-private-non-profit collaborative which aims to “empower residents to transform their community – to affect the root causes of intergenerational poverty through improvements in safety and community trust, education, housing, job creation, economic development, and health.” In 2016, the City of Stockton applied to become a federally designated Promise Zone with RSSC as the backbone organization to manage the South Stockton Promise Zone (SSPZ) initiative. Using a proven model developed by Policylink, RSSC led the Promise Zone community in developing a data-informed set of eight priority Result Areas. Although South Stockton was not awarded official designation, we were a finalist and, as such, still receive attention, resources, and technical assistance from federal partners. In 2017, RSSC became our region’s ACH as part of the California Accountable Communities for Health Initiative (CACHI - Healing South Stockton Initiative). CACHI funds RSSC’s organizational infrastructure and its ability to serve as a backbone entity to facilitate SSPZ activities. RSSC also adopted the Results-Based Accountability model, a system of tracking program progress and measuring impact that guides Coalition work in a data-informed, community-driven method.
