Rotary in Action Rotaract originally began as a Rotary International youth program in 1968 at Charlotte North Rotary Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States, and has grown into a major organization of over 10,904 clubs spread around the world and over 203,000 members in 189 countries. It is a service, leadership, professional, and community service organization (often miscommunicated as a Social Service Club) for young men and women between the ages of 18 and over. Realizing the importance of youth in society & to building their carrier and morality. Charter President Rtn. Mohammad Shahjahan, President Rtn. Amin Ullah, VP Rtn. Emdadul Aziz Chowdhury & Secretary Rtn. Kayes Chowdhury gave the responsibility to Rtr. Md Sohrab Hossen (Shihab) to organize a new Rotaract Club under the sponsorship of the Rotary Club of Greater Chittagong. On 14 November 2015 the dreamers of the club organized its first organizing meeting at Journalist Union Hall, Love lane Kazir Dewri Chattogram. In that meeting honorable Rotarians of sponsoring Rotary Club announced the appointment of Rtr. Md. Sohrab Hossen (Shihab) as the Charter President of Rotaract Club of Greater Chittagong. On 04 December 2nd & 18 December, 3rd organizing meeting was held. By authorization of DG ABM Wadud Ullah PHF, MD & the co-operation of DRCC Rtn.Azizul Haque,Rotary President Rtn.Amin Ullah, DRR Mohammad Sazzad, ADRR Rtr. Abul Hasan Jewel, DS Zia Uddin Haider Shakil& Rtr.Ashikur Rahman Akhand(Past President of RC of Chittagong Central) all paper works was done & forwarded to RI. After a few months on 23 March, 2016 club got its Charter Certificate from Rotary International. The 1st Regular meeting & Charter presentation program was held on 06 May 2016 at Chittagong Metropolitan Journalist Union Hall. The 1st Installation ceremony of the Club was held on 10 June 2016 at Bhoj Restaurant Chittagong.
