Overview

Pustakalana Children’s Library is a non-government and not-for-profit organization, that was founded in 2005 with the vision to develop children literacy in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. After a few years and some hiatus period in between, in December 2015, the library was revived with a new concept that focuses in building literacy to children starting as young as 12 months to 7 years old through its Common Room programs that combine reading and playing as integral activities to build a good reading habit. Pustakalana offers many educational programs to children and families. This volunteer‐run library features bi-weekly storytelling and crafts sessions, and monthly playgroup in collaboration with other communities that focus on children's education. Through playing, singing nursery rhymes, and meeting up with peers, the story hour session is something that the children always look forward to. Pustakalana’s missions are to pursuit these following principles: Education, Collaboration, Participation, Intimacy, Access, and Uniqueness.
