Overview

Powering Potential Inc. (PPI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides Tanzanian public co-ed schools with solar-powered computers, open source software, and offline digital libraries. PPI currently manages solar computer programs in 29 Tanzanian public schools across 12 rural districts. Our mission: use technology to enhance education and stimulate the imagination of students in Tanzania while respecting and incorporating values of the local culture -- especially cooperation over competition, community over the individual, modesty over pride, and spirituality over materiality. Our stateside patrons include the Segal Family Foundation, the Newman's Own Foundation, the Raspberry Pi Foundation, the IEEE Foundation, the Linux Foundation, the International Foundation, the Collegiate Churches of New York, and SanDisk. Our in-country patrons include the Tanzania Postal Bank, Serena Hotels, the Rural Energy Agency, the Karatu District Council, and the Bunda District Council.
