Overview

Ellen and Marie. Marie and Ellen. Doesn’t matter whose name comes in first, because we’re a package deal. We complete each other. Like well-glued wallpaper. As friends, and as co-directors. Marie is researcher and script writer, Ellen is our cinematographer and editor. Looking for green screens or special effects? Don’t bother. We tell everyday stories from everyday people, from your grandma to our DHL guy. Because they’re grand in their own small way. We capture their beauty and point it out to the world. As a documentary or a piece of fiction, with music or without, but always in their full glory. “What about your name? Poolhert. Is that some kind of animal?” That’s what you’re thinking, right? It’s both of our last names glued together. Made it up at a bar one night. But after six years of making films together it’s more than that. It’s our mark. Our signature. It’s our way of looking at the world. A world in which ordinary people with ordinary lives just might have the most extraordinary stories to tell. Today, there’s three of us. Maxim, our editor, is in charge of post-production. From editing to grading, he has the technical skills to get any film ready to be seen. Yes, we’re filmmakers, but Poolhert is a production company too. Just not in the traditional sense of the word. For commercial work, you can just hire us to tell your story, whether it’s a music or campaign video, a company film, or any other type of video content. Documentaries and fiction on the other hand, we only (co)produce if we’re free do our own thing with it. Why? Because this is what we love to do. So, we’re in it completely or not at all.
