PLAYIRISH is the radio channel devoted to showcasing contemporary Irish music of every sort to the world. Founded by some of Ireland’s leading Irish Music Industry and radio professionals - Sinead Troy (IASCA & Yangaroo Music), Peter McPartlin (former CEO of Today FM & TXFM), Liam Thompson (Magic FM Virgin Radio UK, Red FM, Communicorp & iRadio) and Angela Dorgan (First Music Contact & Music From Ireland) - PLAYIRISH is a ‘not for profit’ initiative under the guidance of IASCA (Irish Association of Songwriters, Composers and Authors). Our listener promise is to deliver fresh Irish music that is rarely heard anywhere else. Our focus is on specially curated playlists of new and popular Irish music from artists as diverse as Saint Sister and Dermot Kennedy to Kojaque and The Gloaming. Over time, PLAYIRISH will also host a raft of original music shows from well known Irish musicians, music industry figures, songwriters and composers, alongside musical content from key events in the Irish musical calendar. The PLAYIRISH channel is for “all of the people some of the time”. The PLAYIRISH channel is available to the 500,000+ people who on the Irish Radioplayer app. Also because there is no geoblocking of content on the Radioplayer, the PLAYIRISH channel will provide global availability to fans of Irish music and potential visitors to the country too.
