Overview

Play Media is a French independent company based in Paris. It is a television distributor registered by the CSA (Conseil Supérieur de l’Audiovisuel). Play Media publishes the service Play TV, a website which broadcasts more than 100 live TV channels. Play TV also proposes a weekly TV guide, and some additional functions such as shares and comments on Twitter and Facebook. Play TV proposes two services on a freemium model: a free service supported by advertising, and a paying service based on subscription. On the paying service, channels are broadcast in HD and there is no advertising. Among the channels available on Play TV are France 2, Arte, BFM TV, but also the international channels Al Jazeera, Deutsche Welle, Bloomberg or Euronews. More than 50 channels are available internationally. The service developed by Play TV is used by 2.5 M unique users each month. Play Media is registered with the Conseil Supérieur de l’Audiovisuel (CSA) and also with the Autorité de Régulation des Communication Electronique et Postes (ARCEP). Play Media is a member of the IAB France and participates to many studies about web advertising. Young an innovative, the company is supported by OSEO, a public French company which finances innovation. John Galloula and Charles Cappart, the founders, were joined by the Chambre de commerce de l’Industrie de Paris (CCIP) before being awarded the winning prize of the Réseau Entreprendre in June 2009.
